The present Director, Technology and Innovation will complete his contract with the ABU in the first quarters of 2018. Applications are sought to fill this important position.

This is one of the most senior positions in the ABU Secretariat, reporting directly to the Secretary-General, and responsible for contracted staff and temporary staff who are employed from time to time to work on special projects.


The key responsibilities of the position are:

  • The overall management and supervision of the Technology, Innovation and IT departments, liaise with the ABU Technical Committee, the Technical Bureau and its working parties, and taking actions on decisions of the General Assembly on technical matters.
  • The preparation of an annual activity plan and budget for the  Technology and IT departments to meet the requirements of the ABU Strategic Plan and the ABU Activity Plan.
  • The planning, management and implementation of activities, a key focus of which will be projects to assist ABU members in raising the standard of their technical/technology skills from early planning, development and implementation, and operational aspects.

Applications will only be considered from candidates with a recognised degree in a relevant broadcast engineering or multimedia technology, and with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in broadcasting technologies of which at least 5 years should have been spent in a senior management position.

The applicant should be a citizen of a country within the ABU region, and should have experience in organising large events such as conferences, seminars and training workshops.

Remuneration & Benefits

The salary for this position will depend on qualifications and experience. If the successful applicant is a non-Malaysian citizen, salary and allowances will be free of income tax in Malaysia.

Recruitment of Manager Production & Delivery Technologies

ABU is now advertising for the role of Manager, Production & Delivery Technologies. Applications are sought to fill this position in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The incumbent would be responsible for projects and activities assigned to him/her related to the production and delivery technologies area. The ABU employs international experts in broadcast technologies to work within the ABU Technical Department in Malaysia.

The individual should possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in electronics, telecommunications or electrical engineering. A strong background in radio and television engineering, with at least 7 years’ experience in production areas, transmission areas, including broadcast transmitters, SHF links, antennas and satellite systems, would be advantageous.
